Legal
Read this before you treat a number on this site as a filing.
BLD Power publishes estimates so an owner or a board can decide whether to start a conversation. The City, the meters, and counsel still govern the building.
Estimates only
Exposure figures, occupancy coefficients, and sample ledgers are illustrative. They use published Local Law 97 limits and the statutory $268 per metric ton CO₂e over the applicable cap. They are not a DEP, DOB, or LL97 report, and they are not advice to file or to elect Article 320 or Article 321. Grid-program value is described as eligible programs only. This site does not publish specific grid-revenue figures.
No guarantee of penalty elimination
BLD Power does not promise that a building’s emissions penalty will go to zero, be “erased,” or be 100% protected. Compliance is an operating system. Power is a share of verified bill savings and verified LL97 penalty reduction, measured from the building’s LL97 filing, under an energy services agreement. A battery alone does not reduce LL97 reported emissions; electrification does.
FDNY and DOB
Indoor energy storage requires Fire Department and Department of Buildings review on the specific control area. BLD Power does not hold out a generic “approved builder” credential. A site walk and those agencies decide whether a room can take kit.
Name
BLD Power — pronounced Build Power — is a Local Law 97 compliance and energy services company at bldgpower.com. It is not Urban Energy, a Brooklyn solar installer that folded in 2025. That firm sold hardware. This firm sells an operating system and, where the rooms allow, a 0-CAPEX battery and electrification agreement and participation in eligible grid programs.
Feasibility submissions
The request form stores the address, optional BBL, GSF, building type, unit count when relevant, and contact details so we can return a 48-hour first pass. Do not send information you are not authorized to share.
Coverage, filing, and Article 321
Covered buildings generally include those over 25,000 GSF; multiple buildings on one tax lot totaling more than 50,000 GSF; and condos under one board totaling more than 50,000 GSF. Annual reports are due May 1, with a 60-day grace to June 30. Failure to file is $0.50 per square foot per month. Article 321 is a prescriptive pathway with prescribed $10,000 + $10,000 payments — it is not where BLD Power is sold.
